Learning the fundamentals of the game is important for all youth interested in the sport of basketball. Equally important however, is learning how to be safe both on and off the court!
On January 22nd, over 30 youth from the Chester Boys and Girls Club in Chester, PA participated in the Philadelphia 76ers Basketball Safety Clinic, which is proudly presented by The Rothenberg Law Firm LLP. The kids who participated were from 4th grade to 8th grade from schools in the area.
This event was more than just a safety clinic—it was a spectacular community event. The Mayor of Chester, Thaddeus Kirkland, attended the event and made a special shout out to the Sixers, The Rothenberg Law Firm LLP and everyone in his community. He stressed how important safety is in basketball and in life. Janet Riley-Ford, the Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Chester, was there as well as nearly a hundred parents, kids and other concerned community members.
The clinic topped-off with a pep rally hosted by the Sixers Dunk Squad and was then followed by the participating youth learning how they could stay safe, while also honing their game. The Rothenberg Law Firm had gifts for all the participants – shirts, bags, ice packs and hats.
Over the course of this season, the 76ers and The Rothenberg Law Firm LLP will take this clinic series on the road visiting sites including the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City, Boys and Girls Club at Shortlidge Academy in Wilmington, DE, Boys and Girls Club of Chester, and Forest Hill Elementary School in Camden, NJ. In total, the series will serve more than 200 youth.
